Assamese to English Translation

About the Assamese Script

The Assamese script is an abugida, meaning that each letter represents a consonant with an inherent vowel.

The Assamese script was first used in the 7th century to write the Assamese language. It was originally derived from Brahmi, which is a sacred language of Hinduism and Buddhism.

The modern form of the Assamese script is used to write অসমীয়া (Asamiya or Assamese), one of the major languages in India and the national language of অসম (Assam).
